Due to changes in the FAFSA, the EFC (Estimated Family Contribution), now called the SAI will be delayed. Go to: https://studentaid.gov/aid-estimator/ . Upload a screenshot of the last page. It only takes a few minutes, and you can print a screenshot of the last page that gives you your EFC results.
Qualifications and Instructions
1. Applicants must be seniors at Yreka Union High School District and intend to enroll in an institution of higher learning. Applicants must graduate from Yreka Union High School District to receive a scholarship. The applicant must enroll full time at their chosen institution to receive their scholarship.
2. Applicants must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale through the fall semester of their senior year. The 3.00 GPA will be established at the end of the fall semester.
3. Applicants must complete their USI application, print it, and turn it in to Mrs. Busby at Yreka High School on or before March 13 2024.
4. A USI Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving YUHSD students based on a combination of proven academic performance and financial need. There is no set policy by the USI Scholarship Committee that a certain GPA should warrant a specified amount of money.
5. A student generally will not be considered eligible for a scholarship unless he or she has attended Yreka Union High School District for at least 3 Semesters prior to graduation. Under special circumstances, the USI Board may waive this requirement by 1 semester.
6. The applicant must submit a YUHSD transcript.
7. The applicant MUST file a Free Application for Federal Student AID ( FAFSA) as part of the USI application process. FAFSAs can be submitted from October 1, 2023 through March 2, 2024. Students must include with this application a copy of their Expected Family Contribution (EFC) that can be found on the first page of the processed FAFSA application.
Applications and supporting documents are due on or before March 13, 2024.
